CHCE Plans Long Term Care Workforce Summit
CHCE is pleased to announce plans to organize a Long Term Care Workforce Summit (LTCWS). Our first step in organizing the LTCWS is to announce a Call for Nominations to the LTCWS Steering Committee. The ideal candidates for the Steering Committee should have a depth of LTC industry experience, demonstrate strong leadership skills and have extensive network connections. Nominees for the Steering Committee should represent a broad range of LTC industry segments including:
- LTC Providers e.g. Gentiva
- LTC Payers e.g. AALTCI
- Consumer Groups e.g. Families USA
- LTC Research Organizations e.g. American Geriatrics Society
- Academic Centers e.g UNC Institute on Aging
- Foundations e.g. SCAN Foundation
- Other Stakeholders e.g. AAHSA
The working draft of our mission statement and objectives is below:
LTCWS Mission: To ensure an adequate supply of well-trained, qualified and contented LTC workers comprising an active and thriving workforce that can provide high quality, compassionate care services for the benefit of consumers, their families and community stakeholders.
Objectives:
- To promote ways to improve communication between all stakeholders in the LTC marketplace.
- To seek solutions to the challenges facing the LTC workforce such as low pay and benefits.
- To seek solutions to the projected shortage of LTC workers.
- To increase consumer awareness of LTC and options for care.
- To improve the quality of LTC services.
